Laboratory Support Supervisor

Skipton, North Yorkshire, UK Permanent, Full Time £24000 - £24000 per annum

Ashberry Recruitment are looking for a Laboratory Support Supervisor who is principally responsible for leading a team of technicians in performing routine operational activities to support the laboratory. The job holder will maintain and develop laboratory processes to support the Operations Team. The job holder will work to maintain and, where possible, increase efficiencies to continuously deliver our clients service and ensure customer expectations are always met and often exceeded.

The Laboratory Support Supervisor will work closely with the laboratory scientists and team leaders to coordinate the delivery of samples, consumables, and clean glassware into the laboratory for the timely completion of analysis.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership and coaching to a small team of laboratory technicians/ administrators.
  • Plan, coordinate and perform routine laboratory operations to support analysts with general housekeeping, sample registration and tasks such as consumables ordering, logging of chemicals and stock control.
  • Provide front line support to the Operations Team to allow for smooth execution of testing within the laboratory.
  • Oversee chemical, equipment, glassware and consumable requirements deemed necessary to ensure minimum disruption to the laboratory operations.
  • Develop and sustain robust ordering processes for the laboratory.
  • Improve and maintain efficiencies throughout all aspects of sample lifecycle.
  • Build professional and enduring relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Write, execute and review SOP’s, protocols and reports pertinent to the role.
  • Participate in the training and development of colleagues in routine operations.
  • Travel between both the laboratory and stability facility to support with stability and archive activities.
  • Continuously identify solutions and new ways of working to help the team develop and the company to move forward.
  • Perform other duties as and when required by the company and act always in the best interest of the company.

Education & Experience

  • Graduate of Chemistry or an Analytical Chemistry related subject
  • Ideally at least 3 years’ experience of working in an analytical (Not essential)
  • laboratory within a GMP regulated environment
  • A passion for leading and developing people
  • Working knowledge of laboratory operating systems
  • A hands-on approach to laboratory processes.
  • Experience in performing and writing Quality Documents
  • Time management and project management skills
  • Confident verbal reasoning skills with colleagues and customers
  • Driving Licence
