Agency Social Worker – Assessment/Safeguarding/CP Team

Blackburn Temporary, Full Time £36 - £39 per hour

Ashberry Recruitment are always recruiting for agency Social Workers and Support Workers for Social Work Teams across The North of England.

This requirement is for a Social Worker to join our client Blackburn with Darwen Council and their Assessment/Safeguarding/CP Team.

Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Services require an experienced Qualified Children’s Social Worker to work in the Assessment/Safeguarding/CP team on a full time, 37 hours a week basis.

Experience in using Protocol Liquid Logic is desirable but not essential, and it is highly desirable to have good IT inputting skills.

The main areas of work will be Assessment, Child Protection and Court work plus some Child In Need work. The role entails outcome-focused SMART planning and good electronic recording skills to ensure the statutory social work service is fulfilled, alongside standard tasks – completing key assessments, carrying out stat visits, leading Core Group and CIN meetings, and writing good quality Court reports etc.

Managers are easily available to access for advice and support and the building is Covid Secure and open plan with meeting rooms.

During the current pandemic, there is a ‘bubble’ arrangement for staff in the department as per a rota with a mixture of working from home and in the office as required. This arrangement may require some flexibility at times, as you will be required to follow any requirements to meet the service needs.

There are virtual meeting arrangements using Microsoft Teams with all social workers provided with a tablet and smartphone, plus free car parking behind the building when working from the office site.

Ashberry Recruitment would ask that applicants meet the following:

  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work and will be registered with Social Work England as a qualified Social Worker.
  • Have a full driving licence and car available for work along with business insurance.
  • Have an enhanced and in date DBS certificate.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on the information available, ensuring effective relationships with other professionals.
  • Can work within and contribute to a team.
  • Possess knowledge of service needs for ethnic minority communities.
  • Have confident IT skills and be able to navigate an electronic file system.
  • Can write clear, concise, and robust reports.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises.
  • Contracts are generally full-time, but part time and flexible working hours may be considered. Contracts are normally offered over a 3-month period before rolling on for another 3 more months at a time.

With the current covid circumstances, there is home/remote/agile working available within a lot of these requirements along with suitable allocation of PPE.
