Agency Social Worker – MASSH (Multi Agency Safeguarding and Support Hub)

Ashberry Recruitment are currently recruiting for a number of agency Children Service Social Workers to join our client, Stockport Council.

This requirement is for an Social Worker to join their MASSH – Multi Agency Safeguarding & Support Hub.

Starting date is ideally as soon as possible.

This is a full time post 37 hours week – initially for 3 months (likely to be extended via rolling/on-going contract) but we may be able to consider applicants on less hours.

Stockport’s Multi Agency Safeguarding and Support Hub (MASSH) is the ‘front door’ to Stockport Family services where support or safeguarding needs have been identified for a child and their family.

As a First Response Social Worker within the MASSH you will be required to respond to contacts from families, professionals and anonymous sources in a timely way to identify and secure the most appropriate service to support and safeguard children and families. You will communicate with families, partner agencies and members of the public to enable you to analyse historical and current concerns in order for you to carry out timely multi-agency MASSH assessments with recommendations. You will have a good understanding of statutory social worker functions and be confident in making informed threshold decisions.

As a First Response Social Worker you will:

  • Ensure you provide an effective, coordinated response to the needs of children, young people and families identified through MASSH enquiries.
  • Identify and secure the most appropriate service to support and safeguard children and families.
  • Be accountable to the First Response Team Leader for the enquiries you undertake and to contribute to the decisions that are reached within Stockport MASSH ensuring that all children and families are protected and safeguarded
  • Be accountable for providing high quality front-line service delivery

Stockport is Ofsted rated Good (2017) and works within a restorative practice model, building positive and trusting relationships with children, families and colleagues to achieve good outcomes.

Interviews will most likely to be held remotely/virtually.

Ashberry Recruitment would ask that applicants meet the following:

  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work and will be registered with Social Work England as a qualified Social Worker.
  • Have a full driving licence and car available for work along with business insurance.
  • Have an enhanced and in date DBS certificate.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on the information available, ensuring effective relationships with other professionals.
  • Can work within and contribute to a team.
  • Possess knowledge of service needs for ethnic minority communities.
  • Have confident IT skills and be able to navigate an electronic file system.
  • Can write clear, concise, and robust reports.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises.
  • Contracts are generally full-time, but part time and flexible working hours may be considered. Contracts are normally offered over a 3-month period before rolling on for another 3 more months at a time.

With the current covid circumstances, there is home/remote/agile working available within a lot of these requirements along with suitable allocation of PPE.
