Children Social Worker – Family Finder (Adoption)

Stockport, Greater Manchester, UK Temporary, Full Time £19.98 - £25.02 per hour

Ashberry Recruitment are currently recruiting for a number of Qualified Social Worker’s to join our client, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council for their Children Service Teams.

This role/requirement is for a Family Finder Adoption Social Worker over 4 days.

Main Purpose of the Job:

To provide a service to prospective adoptive applicants, approved adoptive families, children and young people requiring adoptive placements, birth parents, adopted adults and others affected by the adoption process. To be involved in the matching and placement of children and young people , to undertake adoption support assessments of need and deliver effective adoption support . To work supporting adopted adults to access their adoption files and work with fieldwork colleagues, providing advice and support in all aspects of adoption . To work within the legislation, Regulations and National Minimum Adoption Standards

Summary of responsibilities and key areas:

To undertake assessments prospective adopters, at different stages of the adoption journey.
To track and contribute to the planning for looked after children who may have a care plan of adoption.
To liaise with the social worker’s responsible for the child’s care plan and to provide advice and guidance to them on adoption issues.
To facilitate training and support groups relating to the needs of adoptive families.

 

Ashberry Recruitment would ask that applicants meet the following:

  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work and will be registered with Social Work England as a qualified Social Worker.
  • Have a full driving licence and car available for work along with business insurance. 
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on the information available, ensuring effective relationships with other professionals.
  • Have the ability to work within and contribute to a team.
  • Possess knowledge of service needs for ethnic minority communities.
  • Have confident IT skills and be able to navigate an electronic file system.
  • Have the ability to write clear, concise and robust reports.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises.

Contracts are generally full-time and normally offered for a 3 month period before rolling on for another 3 more months at a time.
