Manchester, Lancashire, UK Temporary, Full Time £13.11 - £16.95 per hour

Ashberry are looking to recruit an experienced temporary IDVA to join a Domestic Abuse Service in Greater Manchester. As IDVA you will provide a person centred and flexible range of information, advice and support services incorporating risk assessment and direct work packages for women living in the community, in order to support them to make choices and improve their quality of life in relation to the issues and effects of domestic abuse. You will provide a pro-active, short to medium term service in a multi-agency framework, focusing on high risk victims of domestic abuse to keep them safe.

The main responsibilities of the role will be as follows: 

  • Work with victims of domestic abuse to help them access services to keep them and their children safe.
  • Focus on high risk victims, provide a pro-active, short to medium term service based on the care pathway and incorporate risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Support the empowerment of the client and assist them in recognising the dynamics of domestic violence.
  • Work within a multi-agency setting and keep the client’s safety central to all coordinated responses this will include regular participation in the MARAC.
  • Keep and maintain accurate and confidential records and contribute to monitoring information for the project.
  • Act as the Key Worker and advocate for all women accessing the IDVA services.
  • Access all appropriate services to meet the needs of women living in their own home within the community, in order to provide a safe and secure environment within which their physical, emotional, intellectual and social wellbeing is promoted.
  • Be aware of and implement Child Protection Procedures in accordance with the Child Protection/Safeguarding Policy

To apply for the role of IDVA you will have:

  • Experience of working with women, men, children and young people in a community setting
  • Experience of working with individuals in a crisis situation, demonstrating strong crisis management skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of the effects and the impact of domestic abuse on women, children and young people and relevant legislation.
  • Broad knowledge of the civil and criminal justice remedies relating to domestic abuse
  • Knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding
  • Completion of CAADA Training desirable
  • Full driving licence and access to a car for work
