Join Our Safeguarding Team – Temporary IROs & Child Protection Chair needed

Are you a skilled and passionate social work professional with a commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare? We are looking for Temporary Independent Reviewing Officers (IROs) and Child Protection Chair to join our dynamic Safeguarding Unit.

About the Roles
As an IRO, you will:
• Chair statutory reviews for children in care.
• Monitor care planning and ensure timely, child-focused decision-making.
• Advocate for the child’s voice and challenge drift or delay.
As a CP Chair, you will:
• Lead Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences.
• Ensure multi-agency plans are robust, outcome-focused, and timely.
• Promote best practice and professional challenge where needed.
Both roles contribute to quality assurance, service improvement, and safeguarding oversight.
What We’re Looking For
• Qualified social worker registered with Social Work England (minimum 5 years’ experience)
• Significant experience in safeguarding, care planning, and multi-agency working.
• Confidence in chairing complex meetings and providing professional challenge.
• Strong analytical, communication, and relational skills.
• Commitment to promoting the voice of the child and improving outcomes.

  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work
  • Social Work England registration
  • Enhanced and in date DBS certificate.
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on information available.
  • Can work alone and within/contribute to a team/multi-agency set ups
  • Possess knowledge of service needs.
  • Competent IT skills and be able to navigate electronic file/recording systems.
  • Can write clear, concise, and robust assessment/reports/files.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises
