IT Systems Support Engineer

Colne, Lancashire, UK Temporary, Full Time £14.35 - £15.38 per hour

Ashberry Recruitment are looking for an IT Systems Support Engineer on a temporary basis for our client based in Colne.

Responsibilities

  • Managing day to day application support of BMS systems
  • Assist the IT Manager to ensure the effective running of the IT function
  • Be the first point of contact for all IT related queries
  • To give first line application support Trouble shooting technical issues
  • Assist in IT specialist projects

People Focus

  • Communicate effectively with Directors, managers and employees of the Company
  • Delivery of IT services to the internal BMS customer
  • Provide 1st line technical support on BMS applications and services
  • Support and offer clear first line advice to internal customers to ensure timely and effective resolution
  • Advise people on the use of standard applications
  • Work with other departments to support and communicate key IT initiatives
  • Promote diversity and inclusion in all activities
  • Deliver service excellence and display strong internal customer service ethos

 Systems and Administration 

  • Maintain all IT systems, software, user admin, printers and the telecommunications infrastructure
  • Monitor and maintain the Mitrefinch time and attendance system
  • Support the in-house ticket printing and POS printing
  • Assist in the compilation and maintenance of an accurate inventory of hardware and software
  • Daily management of the EPOS system
  • EPOS system hardware and software support
  • Management and monitoring of the anti-virus system
  • Test and maintain audits of all till spares
  • Install maintain and administer all hardware at HO at stores
  • Assist in the compilation of the support centre technical documentation, guidelines and procedures

  • Collate data effectively to measure effectiveness of function in meeting organisational priorities
  • Continually seek to identify ways to improve, challenging current practice and suggesting a better way.
  • Regularly review own performance standards and strive to achieve continuous improvement
  • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues in accordance with Health & Safety legislation
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality with regard to people and company information

Your Profile

  • Broad technical skills and interest (operational experience/retailing)
  • Proven track record of Information Management experience and operations control
  • Understanding of customers’ needs
  • Experience of Microsoft suite: Server, Active Directory, MSSQL, Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Experience with maintaining a TCP/IP network (HP Procurve hardware)
  • EPOS system management would be an asset
  • Experience in project implementation and management
  • Ability and enthusiasm for UK travel

The successful candidate will be required for a minimum of 4 weeks, however this could be extended if required from the client.
