School Business Manager

Remote or Hybrid from Barnoldswick Contract, Full Time £25000 - £28000 per annum

Ashberry Recruitment are looking to recruit for our well-respected education provider based in Barnoldswick, Lancashire.

The position is to start as soon as possible with Monday – Friday hours and hybrid or remote working available.

The main focus of the role is to oversee all financial aspects, ensuring the organisation is working towards the most efficient and profitable business solution in order to maintain our sustainability. The role involves managing a whole financial model for currently 4 sites with the potential of growth over the next 12 months, preparing both weekly, monthly and termly management reports, including reporting back to investors.

A key part of this role will be liaising with Head teachers, occasionally members of the team, parents, investors, our accountant and importantly our customers (schools & local authorities) when managing our credit control and SLA`s, hence why excellent communication skills are required.

The role requires someone with experience of the Sage Accounts package and setting up efficient new systems and processes.

Experience:

  • Proficient in Sage Accounts package
  • Xero Accounting Package – ideally but not essential
  • Producing specific reports as and when required for a range of different purposes, stake holders
  • Excellent people skills
  • 3 to 5 years proven accounts experience
  • Experience within an education finance setting – desirable but not essential
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Word, MS Excel essential
  • Ability to create and update spreadsheets, type letters
  • Ability to negotiate

Main Activities of the position:

  • Produce SLA`s and invoices following each school referral
  • Attend internal & external meetings to agree SLA`s if necessary
  • Set up a budget sheet for each department within school and oversee
  • Allocate and oversee petty cash for each school
  • Allocate and oversee school bus pass system and lunch monies
  • Set up all financials onto a Direct Debit
  • Set up a Purchase Order System
  • Set up a process for expenses and oversee
  • Consolidate banking and Xero weekly
  • Input all invoices / payments onto Xero
  • Set up relevant coding system for the school
  • Produce weekly and monthly cash flow forecast
  • Produce end of term accounts for the accountant and support with year end
  • Produce yearly forecast
  • Attend whole team inset days (3 a year)
  • Attend meetings as and when required with non-exec board, charity board or accountant
  • Develop relationships with schools, agencies
  • Confidentiality and Integrity are a key part of this role and must be adhered to at all times

Tracking

  • To show percentage of income for each customer
  • To show number of customers per area

Key Relationships

  • Working daily with the Executive Head teacher
  • School Bursars / Business Managers
  • Head teachers

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE`s including Maths & English
  • Accounting qualification – desirable
  • You will receive 8 weeks holiday in line with the term time holidays.
