SEN Teacher

Blackpool, Lancashire, UK Permanent, Full Time £18000 - £22000 per annum

Ashberry Recruitment are looking for SEN Teachers for our well-respected client based in Blackpool.

Safeguarding

  • To follow policies and keep abreast of safeguarding policies and procedures at all time

Attendance

  • To keep a daily attendance record in accordance with D f E regulations and encourage young people to attend 100%. 
  • To provide 1:1 and additional sessions for missed hours to achieve targets. 
  • To work closely with the attendance officer and monitor attendance on a weekly basis and ensure the attendance policy is closely followed.
  • To produce an individual timetable for each pupil at the start of each new term, considering their individual needs. To review this timetable on-going and discuss any changes with your line manager to ensure you are encouraging 100% attendance.
  • To encourage attendance by designing an attendance wall chart.
  • Produce timetables for pupils that reflect their individual needs, also to meet OFSTED requirements to meet at least 20 hours of education, excel homework. Homework must be set, and evidence of e learning / communication met, independent study, work experience and taught sessions

 Curriculum

  • Prepare resources in line with the new F.L. curriculum, taking full responsibility for delivery of all qualifications within your centre, taking into account differentiation and linking in to the national curriculum expectations and D f E regulations. Delivery of Science SOW and qualification, Maths, English, ICT embedded into all sessions and the appropriate level of qualification achieved by ALL pupils, inclusion of English Institutions taught within the curriculum and Cultural Awareness, History, Citizenship, PSD and Healthy Lifestyle including weekly sport / exercise all included.
  • Act as the lead I.V. for your chosen subject areas and attend relevant I.V. Training, moderation meetings, standardization and OSCA training to ensure you are meeting all Edexcel requirements.
  • Prepare in advance of each taught session, an appropriate lesson, following the basic lesson plan, using a variety of resources / teaching methods, taking into account individual learning styles and risk assessment if required. Your room prepared in advance ready to start.
  • Ensure literacy, numeracy and ICT functional skills are embedded into every session.
  • Provide learner friendly evidence for portfolios for each and every session, including workbooks which enable young people to continue their studies at home, via e learning and on residentials.
  • Arrive at least fifteen minutes before your session is due to start to ensure the classroom and any resources are prepared.
  • Take time before the end of each session to evaluate the session both individually and as a class.
  • Prepare a Curriculum wall tracker for the wall and also upload expected grades onto the Curriculum tracker on dropbox.

Personal Supervision and Other Meetings

  • Attend and participate in ALL staff meetings and make a contribution to the agenda
  • Be responsible for own personal development and research in subject area, highlighting training requirements at regular supervision meetings.
  • Attend appropriate training courses as requested / agreed with your line manager.
  • All employees must participate in the organisations Performance Appraisal. The process aims to ensure that performance standards / targets are jointly agreed between employees and line managers and are achieved within the agreed time-scales. Your first appraisal will be within your third month

Work with young people

  • To be a positive role model to young people at ALL times
  • Be willing to mentor a team of young people with regards to attendance and behaviour
  • Support and encourage young people to update their portfolio and complete weekly diary sheets
  • Supervise young people on breaks at all times
  • Supervise young people at mealtimes and when making / cooking snacks – link into lifestyle and encourage a `Healthy Lifestyle’ approach
  • Take a holistic approach and ensure we are working as a team to meet the educational, emotional and individual needs of all the young people we work with.
