Permanent Family Social Worker – Private Residential Family Centre

Ashberry Recruitment is recruiting for a Family Social Worker to work within a residential family centre, that provides a safe environment for parents who have been referred by the Local Authority due to their need of additional support and assessment prior to reintegration into society.

You will be working with up to seven families, carrying out parenting assessments to a high standard, writing midway and final assessment reports for the courts and referring local authorities.

The main duties of the role will be as follows:

• Assessing a parents mental health capacity to meet their children’s needs.
• Undertaking direct work with parents to assess the ability to keep themselves safe.
• Undertaking Capacity Assessments under the PAMS manual to assess the parents selfcare in relation to cooking, hygiene, finance and maintaining a good routine.
• Assessing the parents interpersonal skills and their ability to problem solve.
• Assessing the parents ability to appropriately seek help and assistance from professionals.

There is a service need requirement to be on call, where an on call payment will be provided additional to the salary.

Ashberry Recruitment would ask that applicants meet the following:

• DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work and will be registered with Social Work England as a qualified Social Worker.
• Experience of making objective professional assessments of children, young people and families.
• Experience of carrying out comprehensive parenting assessments desirable but not essential (training can be provided).
• Have the ability to analyse complex family situations.
• Have experience of court report writing.
• Be a strong team player and be able to demostrate excellent written and verbal communication skiils.
• Have confident IT skills and be able to navigate an electronic file system.
• Can write clear, concise, and robust reports.
• Have access to a car and full driving license and business insurance.

This is a full time post. Monday to Friday. 42 hours per week.
