Social Worker – Cared For Children Team

Rochdale Temporary, Full Time £27.54 - £30 per hour

Ashberry Recruitment are currently recruiting for a number of agency Children Service Social Workers to join our client, Rochdale Council.

This requirement is for a Social Worker to join their Cared For Children Team which is normally based out of OL16 1XU.

Rochdale’s Cared 4 Children’s Teams are managed by a team of 3 experienced permanent managers, they have a cohort of Advanced Practitioners (one in each team) with reduced caseloads to be able to coach and mentor the staff in their teams. They have a committed dedicated social work service – 5/6 workers in each team who continually go the extra mile for our children.

Rochdale are looking to appoint, part of the Cared 4 Children Team experienced, flexible, enthusiastic and conscientious Social Workers with experience in managing complex cases (Cared 4 Children and transition to leaving care cases).

The successful candidate will be part of an experienced, proactive and supportive team and will assist in its approach to providing a social work service to children and young people who are Cared for by the authority.

These agency workers are seen as an important resource for us and as such are given the same level of support and opportunities as our permanent staff – positively a number of our agency workers have recently chosen to progress to becoming permanent.

Rochdale have a commitment to continuing to embed their Relational Practice Model and to keeping caseloads at a manageable level to be able to achieve that.

We are willing to offer above the standard rates for the right candidates who are able to demonstrate a level of experience and the ability to work with the approach that we are taking.

Starts are available for ASAP.

Interviews will be most likely to be held remotely/virtually.

Ashberry Recruitment would ask that applicants meet the following:

  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work and will be registered with Social Work England as a qualified Social Worker.
  • Have a full driving licence and car available for work along with business insurance.
  • Have an enhanced and in date DBS certificate.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on the information available, ensuring effective relationships with other professionals.
  • Can work within and contribute to a team.
  • Possess knowledge of service needs for ethnic minority communities.
  • Have confident IT skills and be able to navigate an electronic file system.
  • Can write clear, concise, and robust reports.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises.
  • Contracts are generally full-time, but part time and flexible working hours may be considered. Contracts are normally offered over a 3-month period before rolling on for another 3 more months at a time.

With the current covid circumstances, there is home/remote/agile working available within a lot of these requirements along with suitable allocation of PPE.
