Social Worker – Fostering Support Team(s)

Preston, Lancashire, UK Temporary, Full Time £24 - £37 per hour

Ashberry Recruitment are currently recruiting for a number of Qualified Social Worker’s to join Lancashire County Councils Fostering Support Team(s).

We have the following opportunities within this service across the district of Lancashire.

  • 2 vacancies 5 days per week
  • 1 vacancy 3 days per week
  • 1 vacancy 2.5 days per week

Supervising social worker based in various locations across Lancashire. The Role will involve supervising and supporting registered foster carers to meet fostering national minimum standards and regulations. This will include supporting children placed with foster carers as per fostering regulations and care planning legislation.

Duties will include:

  • To manage an allocated workload of approved carers and carer assessments according to directorate priorities
  • Re-assessing foster carers, including compiling complex assessment reports to present to the fostering panel
  • Preparing reports for foster carer reviews
  • Supervising and supporting foster carers and their families
  • Ensuring high quality foster care is available that meets the specific needs of children looked after and that all the standards and regulations are met
  • Being involved in running support local groups

Workers may be required to engage in joint training initiatives and undertake work originating outside the area if this is necessary to ensure equitable distribution of work, and in the interests of efficient and effective service delivery.

This is not to be regarded as exclusive of exhaustive – there may be other duties and requirements at the same responsibility level associated with the post.

You are required to have the ability to drive a car and have a car at your disposal.

Pay rates start from £24 per hour (up to £37ph) to be determined at or after interview dependent on experience.

 

Ashberry Recruitment would ask that applicants meet the following:

  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work and will be registered with Social Work England  as a qualified Social Worker.
  • Have a full driving licence and car available for work along with business insurance. 
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on the information available, ensuring effective relationships with other professionals.
  • Have the ability to work within and contribute to a team.
  • Possess knowledge of service needs for ethnic minority communities.
  • Have confident IT skills and be able to navigate an electronic file system.
  • Have the ability to write clear, concise and robust reports.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises.

Contracts are generally full-time and normally offered for a 3 month period before rolling on for another 3 more months at a time.
