Social Worker – Support Our Children Team

Blackpool Temporary, Full Time £35 - £35 per hour

Ashberry Recruitment are always recruiting for agency Social Workers and Support Workers for Social Work Teams across The North of England.

This requirement is for a Social Worker to join our client Blackpool Council within their Supporting Our Children Team.

Supporting Our Children Team:

Blackpool Council are recruiting additional staff to the Supporting Our Children Team. As a Social Worker within this team you would be responsible for providing a quality service to the children in their care, providing high quality work in relation to court proceedings, and ensuring the right outcomes for these children.

The team works with children whose long term plan is to remain in care whilst ensuring constant review looking at reunification and SGO possibilities.

Blackpool Council are currently embarking on an exciting new structure that will see all court proceedings following initial hearing being worked within this service.

As a social worker in this team they will be expecting commitment, drive and ambition for these children and in return they will provide you with a good working environment, high levels of support and manageable caseloads.

Our client is looking for the following criteria in candidates applying for this post:

  • Experience and demonstrable skills in engaging children/young people through a variety of direct work methods
  • At least 2 years’ experience within statutory children’s social work
  • Good understanding of safeguarding children processes
  • Experience of court work
  • Experience of managing a varied and complex case load
  • Ability to write concise, fit for purpose reports/court statements and ability to maintain up to date and accurate records.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience of inputting into children’s services data systems (Mosaic;ICS)
  • Ability to be flexible, resilient and reflective.
Required for 3 months initially, likely to be extended.
Ashberry Recruitment would ask that applicants meet the following:
  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work and will be registered with Social Work England as a qualified Social Worker.
  • Have a full driving licence and car available for work along with business insurance.
  • Have an enhanced and in date DBS certificate.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on the information available, ensuring effective relationships with other professionals.
  • Can work within and contribute to a team.
  • Possess knowledge of service needs for ethnic minority communities.
  • Have confident IT skills and be able to navigate an electronic file system.
  • Can write clear, concise, and robust reports.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises.
  • Contracts are generally full-time, but part time and flexible working hours may be considered. Contracts are normally offered over a 3-month period before rolling on for another 3 more months at a time.

With the current covid circumstances, there is home/remote/agile working available within a lot of these requirements along with suitable allocation of PPE.
